We are a vertically integrated company, focused on acquiring, developing, owning and managing Class "A" multifamily communities primarily throughout the Southeastern United States.

We are a fast-growing firm and are looking to expand our Accounting team with the addition of a Property Accountant. This role will require a high degree of collaboration between the Accounting team and Property Managers so the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively across all organizational levels will be key.

What You'll Do

The Property Accountant will be responsible for managing and executing all essential accounting functions for a portfolio of stabilized and development-stage for both residential and commercial properties. This job function includes reviewing, managing, auditing and analyzing all financial matters related to the assigned portfolio. Responsibilities will include preparation and oversight of financial reports, budgeting, cash management, accounts payable and receivable, and variance analyses.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
· Record accounting transactions in accordance with GAAP
· Record journal entries and facilitate the month-end closing process
· Responsible for preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
· Responsible for maintaining the general ledger and updating supporting schedules and workbooks
· Provide budget to actual variance analysis
· Assist in processing of debt service payments
· Collect monthly rent payments for local property portfolio
· Ensure the accuracy of all billable items in each lease within property portfolio
· Reconcile CAM and billbacks and maintain escalations for commercial property portfolio
· Prepare financial packages for audit and tax accounts, respond to tax & audit inquiries
· Assist asset managers with preparing and/or submitting draw requests to lenders
· Serve as a resource and assist with preparation of portfolio annual budgets
· Provide direction, motivation and training to property accountants
· Provide backup and support to the accounting manager and controller as needed
· Perform other projects and tasks as assigned

To be successful, the individual in this role will be detail oriented, highly organized, and will have a sense of urgency for critical deadlines.

We are looking for candidates with bachelor's degree in Accounting and preferably 2 years of related work experience. Property management software knowledge such as OneSite or Yardi is highly desirable, though not required.
